Our invitation is to welcome the popping of the bubbles of false beliefs on the rocks of reality. We have the option to take refuge in the one “Great One” that manifests in an infinitude of diversity and is alluded to by a myriad of names, even though there is great consensus that this marvelous essence is beyond all attempts to tether it to name or form. There is the possibility to invoke the great compassion that emanates from the heart and embraces and allows the diversity of spiritual paths and expressions without the insistence that one need be “the answer” for us all.

Chiron, the great healer/teacher, has also just moved into Pisces. This placement of Chiron indicates that we are at a juncture where our wounds are coming to the surface in a way that they can’t be denied. Yet, at the same time we are given the opportunity to heal and move into a universal consciousness that is grounded in unconditional love, compassion and the realization that every part and every faction in the planetary scenario is a part of who we are.

We can abandon the ancient practices of condemnation and see the futility of revenge. We can recognize that the desire to punish rather than heal has kept us confined to repeating, again and again, the very conditions that cause suffering and fear to be continued. As long as violence is perpetuated as a reaction to violence, we remain caught in the crossfire of pain. As Einstein said, “Problems cannot be solved by the same level of thinking that created them.” A shift to the consciousness of Oneness and forgiveness can help us to bring deep compassion to this trap. We will not put an end to war by warring against it. A new, dynamic, engaging vision of planetary peace coupled with the realization of inner peace may shift us out of the great divide into the greater unity.

Healing takes place in many different ways and modalities. The squabbling that comes with an insistence that “my method is better than yours’” could come to an end, as the ego graduates from its fixation with itself and opens to what works to benefit the whole. We can apply the balm of forgiveness, not just to what we perceive as happening “out there,” but also to the entirety of our own life experiences, forgiving what we may have interpreted as mistakes, and giving the gift of unconditional love to every aspect of our lives. Jupiter’s presence in Pisces until the third week of January 2011, amplifies the entire spectrum of Pisces potentialities. Faith is something that can’t be proved by logic. Blind faith has impeded sight but faith that derives its knowing from “IN-sight” sees more that can be revealed by the senses. We have an expanded access to direct awareness, call it Source, Great Mystery, God, Goddess, The One, Great Spirit, the Vacuum --- what ever you want to call it.....in this portal of our collective journey.

We don’t like crisis, yet we see, over and over and over, that crisis seems to be a necessary catalyst to push us beyond our attachment to the known, no matter how dysfunctional the known may be. Astrologically, Pluto is conjunct Ceres in Capricorn, (archetype of father, structure, and hierarchy), in square aspect to Uranus. Uranus is on the threshold, called a cusp, of fiery pioneer archetype Aries. Massive transformation is being triggered in correspondence with this turning point.

The trusted, projected “beneficent father” image, for so long projected on to big business, big pharma, big banks and big government, is crumbling before our “i’s” as our “person-alities” gasp with astonishment at the betrayal they feel has been dealt them by the structures supposedly there to serve the people. Greek people are arising in protest in Athens and an attempt to bomb Times Square was averted. It was disclosed this morning that a subsidiary of Bayer has been putting defective children’s medicines on the shelf, oil spews from the Gulf, volcanic ash continues to spread, and Haitians and humans on all continents still don’t have their basic needs met.

Today is May 5th.In addition to the Uranus/ Pluto square, the Taurus Sun squares Mars in Leo, an Aquarian Moon and Juno in Scorpio. Throughout the Earth Community transformation is calling us to notice that we can no longer continue to exploit the Earth or each other. So what is the antidote to the poison that derives from notions of “human superiority” and the separation from each other and the rest of the community of Life?

Astrology provides a glimmer of the healing potential given to us as we experience the wounds of the world. Uranus is at the 29th, last degree of Pisces. The late astrologer Isabel Hickey called the 29th degree “the degree of expiation, with the 29th degree of Pisces extremely important.” Expiation is defined as atonement, or cleansing of sin. Sin has been defined as “missing the mark” and the current developments in the world are certainly revealing the many ways we have not been in attunement or alignment with that which is beneficial for the Earth and the Earth Community.

It is interesting to note that the word atonement can also be viewed as at-one-ment. And isn’t the realization of Oneness the necessary awakening needed for us to radically transform our experience of who we are and what we do as inhabitants of this planet? We are not separate from each other or our habitats. The habits we live by effect the entire web of interconnection.

The 29th degree as has the potential of realizing the harvest, in seed form, of the entire journey through the archetypal territory of the sign. In a sense, it is the eldest elder, bequeathing its wisdom as it prepares to launch into a new incarnation, in a new sign. This is particularly relevant in Pisces, since Pisces represents the last leg of the journey through the entire twelve signs. We could say, by analogy, that Uranus, the awakener, is packing the wisdom gained from its last eighty-four year journey, into its backpack, as it prepares to embark on a new spin of the spiral.

On May 29th, Uranus crosses the threshold into Aries and begins it work as the evolutionary, taking a quantum jump into a new way of being. Uranus, the archetype of invention and genius enters the energy of Aries, the Mars-ruled archetype of the pioneer, the adventurer, the brave and the child. Perhaps we will discover that to be like little children is the profound, new adventure. Uranus will retreat into Pisces once more, beginning in July and next March 13th, re-embark in the Aries territory. I always consider the first landing to be the beginning of the activation, even if there is a shuttling back and forth via the retrograde motion.

I look enthusiastically at the potential of this timing to provide us with the much needed action and energy to launch the many eggs of evolutionary new ways of being, However the un-evolved counterpart of this energy combo can express itself as angry outbreaks, attempts at revolution, blaming and uncertainly. Fear of the unknown and new can also be reflected in reactionary behavior that resistschange. Chaos can emerge and may be a requirement for change, for we humans can be so tenacious in holding on to what once worked but clearly doesn’t anymore!

I decided to share these lyrics from Spaceship Earth from my CD, Mother Earth Calls, to commemorate Valentine's Day. We have been so conditioned to view love through the narrow lens of romance - not that love of that variety isn't enticing and full of its own mysteries and mirages - that we often forget to celebrate love's many other facets that do not fit into the ring of human-to-human relationship.

Isn't it appropriate to take a look at our commitment to Mother Earth, for she like Father Sun provides us with love in the form of life? I was up late last night writing an essay that I began yesterday on this topic. I paid for it today with many yawns but enjoyed so much feeling the passion of expression. My computer arm is also sore so this has slowed down the production but I'll probably post it as a blog on my website when it is completed. I'll let you know.

I thought I'd send the first verse of my Earthball song out to you as a way of commemorating the New Year and sharing my wish that we awaken and adopt policies that are based on the well-being of us all. My vision is of a mutual benefit society of Earthians or Gaians recognizing that our success depends on our realizing that we are One and creating new ways of being that nurture and support the thriving of the entire Earth community.

As you have noticed, we haven't completed the transition into what I like to call "butterfly human." Many of us are in the meltdown of the caterpillar phase of consumerism and facing what looks like the end from the perspective of caterpillar consciousness. It reminds me of one of my favorite jokes, told to me by the late Bernice Paige: Two caterpillars are crawling around in the grass. One looks up and sees a butterfly flying by. The first caterpillar says to the second, "Check that out. Wonder what it is. Do you know?" The second caterpillar looks up and says, " I don't know what it is but you'll never find me flying around in one of them!"

It can be hard to imagine that we can ever make the transition into a mutually supporting way of being, yet as John Lennon suggested, our imagining it helps bring it forth. As Bucky Fuller and so many prophets have said it doesn't take the entirety of humanity to make the change. He reminds us that it is the teeny rudder called a trim tab that steers the direction of huge vessels on the sea. Many of us may think of the hundred monkey phenomenon.

It can also be helpful to wake-up to the illusions as part of our divesting structures that are not in alignment with care and well-being. Our EARTHARTISTRY Book Circle book-of-the-month selection does just that. We will be discussing Hoodwinked, the new book by John Perkins, which reveals the tactics by which the current recession were tailored and also makes a great case as to why we can't return to business as usual. It's time for economics that honors the eco and not the ego! Our current system is cruel, heartless and in its making money god it sacrifices the planet and all its peoples, humans, plants and the very Earth herself. I enjoyed being guest minister at The Interfaith Sanctuary with Rev. Naomi Fay in Cornwell yesterday. There were quite a few children in the circle and so good to see them and their families enjoying the songs about oneness and diversity. Thank you Rev. Naomi. I am still digesting and integrating the experience with Nassim Haramein and the other enthusiastic folks who participated in the Delegate program. I am so excited about his discoveries and that science is now verifying what mystics have always known: We are one and that one manifests in each unique one of us. Dear Friends,

This has been a very powerful and profound month for me. My dear mentor and friend, Thomas Berry, passed away on June 1st. He had been my mentor for 25 years, starting back in the early eighties when Jean Houston introduced us. The irony is that I had planned to visit him in North Carolina the week after he left his body. A quite remarkable experience happened on the morning of his transition that turned my disappointment - at not being able to see him one last time while he was in his body - away. I was able to attend his funeral in Vermont and feel ever more dedicated to passing on his insights and awareness in the context of my work. I often told him that he became for me the Grandfather I never had. He always encouraged my writing and has been my advocate behind the scenes, assuring me that my work is vital even in a world that might not yet appreciate the need to reframe the role of the human presence in the Earth Community. I loved him deeply and will miss hearing his beautiful voice. I intend to honor him by sharing the inspiration and message contained in his many writings and in particular the book "The Great Story."

If you know of any venue, spiritual or secular, that would like to learn more about his message and teachings, I would be delighted to come and speak. If anyone knows of any work in other areas or needs assistance on a project please let me know. My census gig is over and I'd appreciate any opportunities. So not surprisingly, "Oh Yeah" makes you learn to tango. "Plan-it" is a simple but powerful allegory, explaining why we are here. Jungle sounds announce "Gaia" and its sinister, walking bass line. Highlights are the educational "Bacteria," the bouncy "Spaceship Earth," (with a nice organ solo by Duffy in the outro) and the flowing "Underground River." Sunday, May 24th, 9 and 11 am services: I will be a guest minister at the Unitarian Universalist Congregation, 320 Sawkill Road, Kingston, NY, 845-331-2884. This will be Memorial Day weekend. Younger kids would really have a great time singing this song and it could lead to a charming moment if ever performed by children. My favorite cut was Gaia. Performed to a swing style beat it includes the best vocal voiceovers on the whole project and for me it embodies the whole spirit of the CD. The Vernal Equinox is the time when you can actually put an egg on its end and it will maintain its balance. Earth Day was also celebrated on the first day of spring, a date favored by Margaret Mead and John McConnell, early founders and proponents of Earth Day and the Earth Charter. It is encouraging to note how far we've come in a very short time. Although challenges are omnipresent it can be helpful to remember that words like recycling, planet Earth, sustainability and ecology were not household terms, just like the computer was not a household component, a mere thirty-to-forty years ago!

I am feeling a lot of excitement and gratitude for blessings in my personal life and in our collective planetary community crisis which comes at a time to awaken us from a way of living that ushered in an extinction rate that threatens so many of our beloved animal companions, plants, birds and of course our human species. Most of evolutions’ most starting breakthroughs have come at times of breakdown. May we be able to re-invent our economy to be a real ECO-nomy, leaving behind the notion that excess growth and consumption are supposed to be a basis for a functioning monetary system. The service is called "Spring, Renewal and Rebirth."We can create a benevolent and sustainable human presence within the Earth Community. We will explore how you can recognize your role and calling in loving and caring for the Earth and Her community of Life. Songs from Esthers' CD Mother Earth Calls will be included in the service. EARTHARTISTRY came into being to serve as a catalyst for an Eco-logical Era. Programs are available for workshops, talks and classes. We incorporate the wisdom of the five elements and integrate visionary ideas with pragmatic processes.

Esther Francis has offered EARTHARTISTRY workshops and consultations for both my summer day camp program (Catskill Woodland Camp, Phoenicia, NY) and my youth theater (The Listen To Me Company, Woodstock, NY) this last year. I find her work to be as creative as it is vital to our youth and future generations. She masterfully combines music, poetry, and spoken word with environmental and humanitarian values in a way that is engaging, fun, and eye-opening for students and adults alike. Valentine's Day is astrologically very special this year. Mars and Jupiter in alignment (conjunct in Aquarius) as predicted in the song Aquarius, making a nice sextile with Venus. This combo is good for eros and friendship. Saturn in Virgo continues to manifest as contraction in the work place yet puts new emphasis on the need for innovation and another way for us humans to care for each other and our needs.
